The Scent of Fresh Lemons is one of the musical's three inevitable gag songs. Unlike
the other two, this song is a recurring gag which plays three times throughout the
course of the musical. It is based on Grossberg's infamous catch-phrase "Ah, the
days of my youth. Like the scent of fresh lemons, you see."
Marvin Grossberg, Phoenix Wright
PHOENIX: [spoken] Mr. Grossberg, I’m glad you brought that up, actually. You see,
your refusing to defend Mia’s younger sister leads me to believe that you know things
that are very vital to this case. If you wouldn’t mind, can you tell me a little
bit about your past?
GROSSBERG: My... past? [sung] Like the scent of fresh lemons... The days of my youuuuuth!
